Lazy Summer Days.

The promotion job is coming to an end... last night was my last night on the job during the College World Series and I am working on Saturday and Sunday promoting Vault for AAA baseball team, the Omaha Royals. The past two days have been with Full Throttle and my boss was not as great as Heather and Jason (the boss couple for Vault). I'm glad the past two days are done!

I was rather frustrated that Georgia completely blew a 5-0 lead against Fresno State last night; however, I guess it paid off when Amanda (another Vault girl) and I were offered two box seats to the final National Championship game tonight! I am really looking forward to being able to go to the game and enjoy it in an air conditioned box seat, especially since it's 92 degrees out today. I am excited to hang out with Amanda too-she's leaving for the Peace Corps in February 2009. She's a really fun person to be around and we have quite a bit in common. I'm bummed that she's headed back to Portland, Oregon on Friday... she would have been a good friend to have around this summer.

I haven't had any luck finding other jobs. I called a coffee catering company this morning because they had a part-time barista job posted on Craig's List, but they had just filled the spot! I have sent a resume to a couple of companies that have posting for front desk/receptionist type work, so maybe I will hear something back from them. I really just want something simple and mindless... nothing that I makes me work (or think) too hard right now!

I am glad that the CWS will end today. I feel like I am giant hamburger with a cold beer on the side because that's all I've been putting into my body for the past 12 days. All of the food and drink has been free and that's pretty much all they've had, besides nachos and ice cream. I love baseball food. I mean, it's the classic "all-American" food. But, enough is enough. I am also happy for it to be over so that life can be back to normal for everyone around here. A little normalcy will be nice.

The US Olympic swim trials will be held in Omaha for the next week, so we will probably try and make it to one of the events. It will be really neat to see the best of the best to compete. I am completely enthralled at how they are turning the Qwest Center into a swimming arena! It's like normal arena, and they're going to put a swimming pool into the floor!!!

Overall, life in Omaha can't get much better. Jason and I are having a blast getting to hang out at random times and enjoy the city together. I love Brynn, the girl that I am living with, and I haven't even seen a tornado yet!

I am one lucky girl.

Life is good.

Omaha, Nebraska. Home sweet home for the next seven weeks or so. I can't believe that I am actually here. I made. WE made it. Emily and I left a week ago on a journey to the heartland of America. It was an amazing road trip and we absolutely had a blast. We made it in two days, probably around 20 hours if we would have driven straight through. We took our time and stopped whenever we wanted; spending extra time in St. Louis at the Gateway Arch and then stopping at a small outlet mall in Warrenton, Missouri to try and get out of the rain for a couple of hours. (I love outlet malls, by the way... especially Gap Outlet. No matter where the outlet, the trip to Gap always seems to be a success!)

We got into Bellevue, NE (a suburb of Omaha where I am living for the summer, as well as where Jason lives) about 6 on Friday afternoon. Jason had orded Papa John's and then we went down to Rosenblatt Stadium, where the College World Series is being played, for the opening ceremonies. It was SO incredible. They introduced all of the teams that are playing and then had the most incredible fireworks display that I have ever seen! I would post a video, but it doesn't even begin to do it justice. The fireworks lasted for twenty minutes, with music and the grand finale was so loud that it was vibrating the seats!!! I loved it!:)

At the opening ceremonies we sat beside Bryce Massanari's (Georgia catcher) family who offered us reserved seats for all of the Georgia games! We sat on the third baseline for the GA win over Stanford on Monday night. We were definitely lucky! For all of the other games, we've had General Admission seats which are all in the outfield. They're great seats, the only problem is you have to wait in line to get into the stadium. For example, for the one o'clock game they let fans in about noon... as soon as that line clears out, they begin lining up for the six o'clock game. It's hot. The sun is bright. It definitely makes for a long day. However, it's worth it--- both of the Carolina games have been so much fun! The outfield crowds are more fun, chanting back and forth "left field sucks! right field sucks!"... it's just a blast.

And although I have not quite found a real job for the summer, I did get lucky enough to find an advertisement on Craigs List looking for a promotional job for an energy drink. I inquired and have worked the past two days for Vault energy drink (new citrus drink from Coke withe 30% more caffeine) and will work for them for the next few days. I absolutely love it. I get paid $15 an hour to hand out ice cold drinks to people who want whatever they can get for free. It's also been a chance to meet a ton of people. All of the promotional stuff has been downtown or at the stadium so it's just been so much fun. We've got tons of free stuff from it too... you know, all of the old men who have had one too many beverages at the hospitality tents love talking to two young girls. Well, they ended up giving us free passes to the all you can eat/drink hospitality tent for a day! We've also been given free hamburgers from King Kong (local joint right near the stadium) and free coupons from the Hooters girls! It's not always WHAT you know, it's WHO you know, right?
Needless to say, it's been an amazing week thus far. I am going to try blogging for the summer and I will try to keep the blog updated with pictures and stories throughout the next two months. Make sure to watch the game tonight (although I am working) and pull for the HEELS!
